apibrėžtis Įsitikinimo padarinys, veikiantis mąstymo ir jausmų kryptingumą. Religinio tikėjimo pamatas – visiškas kurios nors konfesijos mokymo priėmimas. Tam reikia asmenybės mąstymo, jausmų ir valios pritarimo teiginiams, kuriuos skelbia religijos mokymas. Politeizmas išpažįsta daug dievų (hinduizmas, daoizmas ir kt.), monoteizmas – vieną Dievą. Panteizmas Dievą sutapatina su pasauliu (B. Spinoza ir kt.), Dievą Absoliutą mato pasaulio daiktuose ir reiškiniuose (G. Bruno ir kt.). Jis esąs visų materialių ir dvasinių reiškinių pamatas – vientisa substancija. Iš judaizmo, krikščionybės ir islamo religijų atsirado teizmas – filosofija, teigianti vieną transcendentinę, begalinę, amžiną Būtį – Dievą, palaikantį ryšius ir santykius su pasauliu, nes Jis yra Asmuo. Švietimo epochoje atsiranda deizmas, neigiantis Dievą kaip asmenį, Jo ir pasaulio santykius, bet pripažįstantis Dievą kaip pasaulio pradžios Kūrėją. Krikščionybės tikėjimo pamatas – evangelijų ir apaštalų raštų autoriteto pripažinimas.
